Houston Astros star duo Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa down Red Sox with two homers in ALCS Game 1 win

The Astros beat the Red Sox on Wednesday, thanks to two home runs from Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa.

HOUSTON, Texas — After Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa powered a come-from-behind 5-4 win against the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night, Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker had nothing but praise for his second baseman and shortstop.

Baker remarked after the game, “It’s sort of like Tom Brady and [Rob] Gronkowski.” “They are aware of their own thoughts. They most likely know what they eat for supper, what they like, and what their children enjoy.”

Altuve’s two-run home run knotted the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning, and Correa’s single home run in the seventh put the Astros in ahead for good.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, it’s the fourth time Altuve and Correa have homered in the same playoff game, the most by a pair of infield colleagues in MLB history. Correa and former colleague George Springer are the only teammates who have done it more often.

In the eighth inning, Altuve added a sacrifice fly for the final margin of victory for the home side.

Correa described Altuve as “simply so scary.” “His playoff record is incredible, and he just motivates me. Without saying much, he encourages me.”

He’s won every award you can think of, and then he comes to spring training eager to work on various aspects of his game in order to improve even more.”

Enrique Hernandez of the Red Sox got four hits, including two home runs, the second of which came in the ninth inning to reduce the advantage to one. In his past four playoff games, Hernandez has 29 total bases. Only Reggie Jackson, a current Astros adviser, has done it four times in the playoffs.

“Enrique is on fire,” Cora said.

The Red Sox had only four hits in the last 6.1 innings, and Hernandez was about the only bright light on offense. While their offense was stalled, Altuve and Correa worked on a Houston comeback.
